Rose Arwa.A human right Activists.I'm passionate about community work,to transform lives and bring a social change.Currently, I work with Nyalenda Young Turks ,CBO as Sexual and Gender based violence Programme officer,where we advocate for the rights of less privileged in the community.I' ve worked as child Right Actor,and trained teachers,caregivers and parents on child protection and good parenting skills. Miss Rose Arwa is a renowned peace advocate, educator and defender of women’s rights in the Republic of Kenya. I have volunteer with Nyalenda young Turks an organization whose mission is to empower women, youth and children. She is also the founder of ki kwetu project that empowers orphaned and/or disadvantaged children in urban informal settlements in Kenya to access their right to education. Rose sits on the kisumu central sub county Gender technical working group with the county government of Kisumu, she is a community Peace Ambassador & a member of pandpieri Catholic church peace committee which is mandated with promoting peace and cohesion at community level .

As a volunteer at Nyalenda Young Turks Community Based Organization,Mercy Akinyi is both dedicated to community work and Community Development profession.She joined the organization in 2021 after her course work. Her main area of practice is environmental and hygiene promotion.She is also interested in People Living With HIV and AIDS welfare. Prior to joining Nyalenda Young Turks,Mercy practised her career at STIPA and Bondo County Referral Hospital from September 2018 to December 2018 and September 2019 to November 2019 respectively.She worked with various clients involving Income Generating Activities (IGAs) and psycho-social support. Mercy Akinyi was born and raised in Kisumu.She obtained her diploma in Social Work and Community Development at The Kisumu National Polytechnic in 2021. Upon completion of her diploma course,she went straight to Nyalenda Young Turks Community Based Organization to practise her career.

Ruphine Akinyi Olal,an intern at Nyalenda Young Turks Community Based Organization is dedicated to community work and development to help individuals, families and children manage challenges such as divorce, illness,abuse , mental health issues and unemployment.She joined the organization in October 2021 where she works under mental health department where she creates awareness ofental health problems, signs and symptoms of mental health problems and prevalence of mental health problems. Ruphine as worked with Kisumu County Referral Hospital under Medical Social Work Department and gained knowledge on counselling, psychosocial assessment of clients, repatriation of patients and social rehabilitation.She joined Nyalenda Young Turks to acquire more knowledge and skills in social work..

Nancy Akinyi Odhiany, 26years old, Project officer for sexual reproductive health in Nyalenda young Turks community based organization. I graduated from Africa Nazarene University with certificate in Bachelor Degree in Bachelors of Education Arts in special needs. I have gone numerous training since 2020 when I joined Nyalenda young Turks community based organization to address sexual and reproductive health and rights encompass efforts to eliminate preventable maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity, to ensure quality sexual and reproductive health services, including contraceptive services, and to address sexually transmitted infections (STI) and cervical cancer, violence against women and girls, and sexual and reproductive health needs of adolescents. Universal access to sexual and reproductive health is essential not only to achieve sustainable development but also to ensure that this new framework speaks to the needs and aspirations of people around the world and leads to realisation of their health and human rights.

Rozzalia Adhiambo Odhiambo, an educationist who just concluded her Bachelor’s degree in special needs eduction. She is very passionate when it comes to impacting the lives of the vulnerable in the society more so those living with disabilities. She is currently working with Nyalenda Young Turks as a volunteer, an organisation which offers great support to the vulnerable people in nyalenda slums and across Kisumu county. With such experience given to her, she manages to work closely with the people living with disabilities within the community and gather some of the challenges they go through. Through this, the Organisation is able to;

1 - Enlighten the people living with disabilities on their rights as recognised by the Kenyan constitution.

2 - Empower the people living with disabilities financially and educating them on how they can manage to sustain themselves and their families. The main reason why she joined Nyalenda Young Turks as she says is, “ to impact the lives of the vulnerable be it children, youth, women or the aged and be the voices of the hopeless since every voice needs to be heard and respected.”

Mauline Akinyi is a self motivated and self driven individual, a teacher by profession. Currently working with Nyalenda Young Turks Community Based Organization under the department of Youth, women and persons with disability.

I advocate for the rights of the disabled persons within the informal settlements in Kisumu County. We have the vision and mission for the disabled persons to help in the implementation of disability related issues where the vision is to be an organisation that creates a barrier free society for persons with disabilities and the mission is to promote and protect equalization of opportunities and realization of human rights for persons with disabilities to live a descent livelihood.

To achieve this, I amplify the voices of the disabled person at the County and National level and advocate for their rights. I eliminate stigma and all forms of discrimination among the disabled persons, promote inclusivity in the society and create a discrimination free environment for persons with disabilities. Economic empowerment, capacity building and sexual reproductive health are also key issues I address in the Community.

In addition, I reach out to the PWDs, sensitise them on disability issues and identify those in need of the assistive devices where have managed to identify 10 individuals who are in urgent need of the devices and due to networking and collaboration, have managed help 5 get access to wheelchairs. Am so much passionate in doing Community work.Disability Development Programmes and Rehabilitative Services Division

It has three mandates as per Executive Order No. 1 of 2020 namely:

• Policy and Programmes for Persons with Disabilities.
• Spearhead development and review of Polices and Bills in relation to Persons with Disabilities.
• Spearhead development, dissemination and implementation of a national strategy on disability mainstreaming.
• Protection, Empowerment and Advocacy of needs of Persons with Disabilities.Awareness creation on disability and mainstreaming.
• Mobilization and empowerment of Persons with Disabilities for social-economic activities
• Development and maintenance of databank of PWD and institutions.
• Liaison to agencies offering support to Persons with Disabilities e.g. NCPWD, NFD.
• Develop exit strategy for families with PWDs in CT programme in collaboration with SAU.
• Collaboration with organizations of and for Persons with Disabilities.
• Liaison and collaboration with UN agencies offering support to Persons with Disabilities
• Vocational Training and Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities.
• Oversee skills training of Persons with Disabilities in the VRCs.
• Promote development of infrastructure to suit needs of Persons with Disabilities
• Rehabilitation and re integration Persons with Disabilities.
• Promote entrepreneurship development and empowerment of VRC graduates (provision of start -up tool kits).
• Promote development of Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) and placement

Aruwa Helida Adhiambo. She is a volunteer at the Nyalenda Young Turks CBO.She joined the organization in August 2021. She works under the department of Monitoring and Evaluation, with the main area being the system operations . She is dedicated to promote intergration and monitoring of field activity operations at the office level and also to provide a back-up mechanism for the organization data and information system . Helida has worked with the Royals Computer Centre as an officer incharge of all computer bureau services and a customer care and was once an intern at the KMTC- Kisumu Campus where she offered general user support,data analysis of teaching and non- teaching staff departments,hardware and software maintanance and installation , network configuration and installation among other key obligated duties. With her passion on promoting intergration from the manual ways of processing information to the digital ways .She joined Nyalenda Young Turks to acquire more skills and knowledge in her area of focus and the community at large.

Felix Adinda owuor is Program Coordinator for Nyalenda young Turks community based organization. He manage, coordinate and oversee different programs and projects. Owuor Schedule program work, oversee daily operations, coordinate the activities of the program and set priorities for managing the programme. Felix Adinda is a motivational for those of us working in global research to prevent and treat HIV. Owuor has dedicated his career to expanding access and utilization of HIV testing and care services in the Nyanza Region of Kenya, the region of Kenya most affected by the HIV epidemic. Owuor working as a peer educator with Nyalenda young turks CBO . Adinda described his role as “fishing for people,” saying that “Over 600 people came in for HIV testing and care because they saw me near acting as their saviour and then saw me caring for their life through linkage & networking.” Felix Adinda is continuing to grow professionally and continue in his role as an open advocate for people in his community to empower the vulnerable communities. He was determined to continue his education, He obtained a Diploma and then a Higher Diploma in Counseling Psychology, a Diploma in Social Work and Community home-based couples intervention for P (Better Family Study).

Coordinated Tiko programme for a period of 2years in 5 sub counties in kisumu to promote demand generation for Family planning, HIV & AIDs Testing , counselling for the vulnerable house holds a project that targets 250000 girls between 15years ___24years. Coordinated Loyalty programme in 7 sub counties in kisumu county in partnership with kemri CDC, & maisha med a project that aims in promotion of quality, accessible, affordable health services ; malaria, HIV & AIDs, covid19 testing & counselling. Coordinated Awesome project in partnership with FIDA, a project that's aims at promotion of women participation in leadership & governance, women economic empowerment & advocating for Gender Based violence. Through my environmental champion, I have coordinated climatic action by community green environment initiative

As Program Coordinator within his responsibilities he has to ensure ; Planning and coordination of a program and its activities Ensuring implementation of policies and practices Maintaining budget and tracking expenditures/transactions. Owuor is competent Program Coordinator that undertake a variety of administrative and program management tasks. He help in planning and organizing programs and activities as well as carry out important operational duties. Owuor is organized and detail-oriented, comfortable in working with diverse teams. He is skilled in program development and human resources support. He always ensure he dedicate his strength to facilitate the effective management of programs according to the Nyalenda young Turks organization’s standards. As per his Responsibilities to Support planning and coordination of a program and its activities Ensure implementation of policies and practices Maintain budget and track expenditures/transactions Manage communications through media relations, social media etc. Help build positive relations within the team and external parties Schedule and organize meetings/events and maintain agenda Ensure technology is used correctly for all operations (video conferencing, presentations etc.) Prepare paperwork and order material Keep updated records and create reports or proposals Support growth and program development.
